I was born and raised in land-locked Indiana by a family that appreciated nature, had a love for animals and a desire to protect our natural resources. Along with this heartfelt mindset, I’ve always had a passion and flair for design and product development. Starting at a young age I made my own greeting cards complete with the “Hallmark” seal. This creative fervor led to my first job; I went to work for Hallmark in 1989.
I’ve forged a successful career as a marketer and product developer - creating a diverse portfolio of products that bring joy to people. Currently, I am leading three southern California based lifestyle brand companies: Owner of Dream Up and House Habitude, and Co-Owner of Camp Casual.
A graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I believe my true professional education has come through more than 25 years of working with some of the finest creative and entrepreneurial minded people from around the world.
I’ve always been a firm believer in a life of service, giving back by lending my talents and expertise where I can. In my late teens I taught an illiterate woman to read so she could achieve her goal of reading to her grandchildren. Since then I have been fortunate to volunteer with many organizations and causes, most recently serving as a member of the Marketing Task Force for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a leading childhood cancer research charity. Now I have chosen to focus my time and financial resources in the protection of animals and the preservation of our oceans. Whether it is cleaning my local beach and harbor, supporting the care of injured sea lions, or raising funds for Ocean Defenders Alliance (ODA), I am happy to be doing my small part to save the oceans and its inhabitants for future generations.
I was introduced to ODA through a dear friend of mine who served as a volunteer during his free time. Sadly, he was killed in a freak pleasure-diving accident off the East Coast a couple of years ago. His death was catalyst to get involved. I began donating money to ODA in his honor, but found this wasn’t enough, I knew I could do more, should do more. I “joined” ODA as an Advisor in the fall of 2013 to help raise much-needed funds and awareness to enable the Alliance to serve its mission to clean and protect marine ecosystems through documentation, education, and meaningful action.
I’m blessed to be married to an amazing man who shares my passion, and along with our two rescue pets, to live at the beach in Dana Point, California, furthering giving me an appreciation for the magnificence of our marine life.
