NBC4 News media crew came to the boat to talk to Ocean Defenders Alliance Founder and President Kurt Lieber on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Journalist Angie Crouch wanted to know more about the blue whale with fishing gear entangled on its tail. Kurt explained a common coastal hazard for ocean life: lobster traps that are set 20-50 feet apart. This is a very narrow passage way for a whale to swim through, and it is easy for them to get caught in the lines which are attached to the traps.
